DISABILITY THERAPY

Creating new possibilities in people’s lives, the government offers disability support in Sydney and disability therapy in Western Sydney and is serious in helping people specially in these trying times.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme is designed to empower people with disability through disability therapy for them to work towards their individual goals and choose where they would like to buy their supports. Supporting individuals, families, and communities through disability therapy in Western Sydney by doing various activities, mainstream programs, and services with the help of specialists to help meet the needs, produce impact and achieve personal goals.

Despite the government’s effort in helping those who are in need, fear in getting a disability support particularly in Sydney still struck in some people’s head because of misconceptions and misinformation. Little did people know that there are a lot of benefits of scheduling an appointment in counseling and therapy and below are the most common misconceptions about getting help to help you clear the misunderstanding and misconception of getting help.

FAMILY IS ALL YOU NEED

Friends and Family are indeed important part of your support system but there are times that you can’t just always talk to them about anything. There is a limit to what your family and friends can provide, so better consult the experts regarding some matters. When you meet an expert therapist, you don’t have to filter yourself out, you can just go all out in getting help unlike when you ask family for help, you definitely need to have reservations.

THERAPY OR SUPPORT IS FOR CRAZY PEOPLE AND WEAK PEOPLE

People go to therapy or seek help for a multitude of reasons. For decades, this notion has been around and stopping a lot of people from getting help. People easily seek medical help for health-related problems, seeking help for emotional problems or getting a disability support is a sign of weakness. Before you drown in self-pity for not helping yourself get the help you need, schedule an appointment as soon as possible because asking for help is a lot more courageous act, it actually takes a lot of strength to face the problem and ask for help.

THEREPY IS NEVERENDING AND EXPENSIVE

Ethical and truly professional therapists are not just in it for the money, they want what is the best for their clients. Client’s improvement and happiness as soon as possible is their main goal in mind. The goal of therapy is not to keep you people who needs help here forever but to provide them the tools and necessary knowledge to help them overcome themselves and their problems and later on live a healthier life.

Impairments, Activity Limitations, and Participation Restrictions, what really is disability and Disability Therapy? Let’s break the stigma towards Disability and therapy.

A Disability is a condition of the mind or body that sometimes or oftentimes hinder the person from doing common activities, making it difficult for him/her whom with the condition to do various activities at once and interact with the world around them. People with disabilities are no exception in fighting Some kind of stereotypes. Misinformation, lack of knowledge, fear, and prejudice are often the cause of these myths. Ever since the age of information began, the world’s depiction about having a disability is always negative which results to people creating barriers making it harder for the people affected with the condition harder to reach out and ask for help. Below are the common myths and misconceptions about having a disability that emerges over time:

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY ARE BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS

WRONG! People with such condition is just like you and me, doing normal stuff in a different way than the usual and convenient way people without disability does, maybe in a sense they are brave but calling their bravery by doing simple task is an insult to them.

DISABILITY DOES NOT DEFINE WHO THEY ARE AS INDIVIDUAL

“Label Jars, Not People.” People shouldn’t call out other people’s disability, people often label people with the condition or disability they are born with. Individuals with such conditions are people first, not just some “the disabled” or “the epileptic”, never underestimate what these people can do. Remember even the greatest musical composer of all time was deaf.

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES ARE IN CONSTANT PAIN AND SICK

Just like people without disabilities, people get sick occasionally or sometimes experience pain. Disabled people do not suffer from constant and excruciating pain because of their condition.

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES CANNOT LIVE A PRODUCTIVE AND HAPPY LIFE

The challenge is to focus on a person’s ability, not their limitation. The only thing you have control over is perspective, you don’t have control over your situation but you can always choose about how you view it. People are capable of fully doing things what people without disabilities can do.

There are quite a lot of institution that are willing to address these misconceptions about disabilities, just don’t let misconception and fear stand in the way of getting help during theses trying times. Help them, Help you!
